HEY JOE...WHERE YOU GOING WITH THAT K2 IN YOUR HAND

JOE THOMPSON Last night i was lucky enough to spend 2hours with the lovely Joe Thompson talking about his view of his life as a paranormal investigator, A convosation that would be fasinating to return to many times in the near future. I hope you ebjoy as much as i did Joe namaste brother

K. what was the catalyst for your interest in the paranormal

J. Actually, it was having chats and going on adventures with my grandmother when I was young. We'd explore all sorts of places and talk about the paranormal. K. can you tell moree on that? . it intrests me because was my grandmother that got me interested

J. Sure. I spent a lot of my younger days in southwestern Colorado. The town was really small and all around were other small mining towns, some of them completely empty and supposedly haunted. Also some smaller caves in the area. We'd explore all of them we could. Then look up the history of the places we had visited, if anything was written about it. K. did u experince. any activity

J. You know, I had feelings of being watched in some of the places, but, aside from thinking the places may be haunted, it never really struck me to look for anything. I was about ten at the time. I was more excited about exploring the places we went to at that time than actually looking for the ghosts. I am pretty sure my grandma experienced more than I did, as she was actually looking for entities. K. did she have abilities then

J. Yes. I am certain that she could see and hear them around her. That was one of the things we talked about a lot. What they looked like, sounded like, etc. I could not see or hear them much when I was young. K. And do you hear/see them now

J. I am beginning to. I had a heart transplant six months ago and after that, I have been steadily progressing in the ability to see and hear. Also, I have started to pick up on names and words when I am investigating. Still a bit off, Emma instead of Ella, for instance. But it is getting better. K. So have you met your spirit guide and gatekeeper yet

J. Not yet. Still looking for any of that help. I just started picking things up in the past two months or so. Still weak, but much better than before the surgery

K. Where in the world would you most like investigate

J. I have investigated in a number of countries already, lucky enough that my work has sent me many different places. Italy, France, Spain, Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, former Yugoslavia, The UK and Ireland. There are a number of places in Scotland, Wales and Northern England I'd like to explore, but Eastern Europe is near the top of the 'bucket list'. Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, etc. K. Prague would be great place

J. I agree. The history alone is worth the trip, but the icing on the cake are the haunted locations K. So can you in your words define difference between a ghost and spirit

J. Semantics. I believe they are the same thing, it just depends on where and how you grew up. I have heard other people talk about a spirit having crossed over and then return and a ghost hasn't yet crossed over, but I think they are the same thing. K. what is the most ridiculous claim you have heard about a location

J. It's full of orbs!! I can't believe the number of orbs in that house! I politely suggest that they dust occasionally. Or here is another - My house is full of demons. K. You dont believe in deamons

J. I do believe in demons, but real demon cases are so rare. In thirty years of Paranormal Investigation and four years of Demon Investigation with the Order of Exorcists, I have run across three cases that were real. One was a possession and the other two were demonic oppression. The order receives more than a hundred requests for exorcisms every year. K. I personally dont believe

J. The large majority of the cases are people needing help and since nothing/no one has been able to help, it must be a demon

J. I'll have to send you a clip of the possession case for you to look at. K. I believe the spirit is the human conscious and nature and if in life the person would therefore continue beyond the veil as there was here so if the person was inherantly nasty in life does it not translate this would continue beyond death

J. I agree with that. The mean, nasty entities we run across in places could very well have been mean, nasty people when they were alive

K. Alive or dead if you could choose 5 people to investigate with be they your average person or a celeb who would it be

J. Ed and Lorraine Warren, Nick Groff, my grandma, and for the humor, Zak Begans. you said your starting to see and hear spirits/ghosts can you explain what happens

When I had died on the table (5 times, officially) I don't remember anything at all. I went under, then woke up some thirty hours later in my room. It wasn't until four or so months later that I started noticing a lot more shadows than I used to, and hearing some words occasionally. The shadows used to be more like just a black mass, a cloud, in the room, darker than the dark around it. But, now they seem to have more definition, more human shaped. K. Have you ever been on a hunt that felt wrong..as though you really wasnt meant to be there J. Yes. On the three demon cases I mentioned before. As soon as I walked in, there was a very heavy, oppressive feeling. I wanted to just saunter out of the place. But, had a job to do. Turned out to be very interesting cases. There have been others that we all go the feeling what we needed to leave. K. i have done solo investigations since i was about 12 but class myself more of a researcher as find that more interesting..is there a sector of the paranormal/supernatural you wouuld like to get deeper into

J. I've done both solo and group investigations, in fact, it is usually myself and my partner in crime, Tim that investigate these days. I enjoy the research and reading articles from other researchers, as I am always learning new things in the field. I'd like to have the money and time to just travel and find new places to investigate. Research those places as I go and write about the adventures. K. So how would you define the afterlife because way my mind works im sitting thinking..if EVERYTHING is made of atoms therefore spirits would be made of atom but they as a whole form solid mass and yet spirit don't J. I think you're not going small enough, every thing is made of atoms, but atoms are made of quarks and quarks are made of smaller, vibrating particles. Energy, in other words. We are one form of energy and the ghosts/spirits are another form of energy. The afterlife may just be that with a minor shift in dimensions K. Is there a aspect one defining answer that you would like J.I guess I would like to find that one piece of evidence that even the most skeptic skeptic would say, "Well, okay, thats a ghost!" K. Yea that would be great K. What is your view on cryptids J. I have never really been interested in most of the cryptids. I won't say that they don't exist, but I just have never had any great interest in looking for them, except when I was at Loch Ness in Scotland. I have to admit I looked at the Loch a lot looking for Nessie. K. Do you feel though that they are just misinterpreted unknown animal or more of a supernatural nature for instance bigfoot reports often state ufo activity beforee and lot of natives claim it phases between this world and somewhere else J I would think it is split. Someone sees something and interprets it as a cryptid. Then you have to think it may be something paranormal, if there is no other explanation, then it could be. K. last one and thank you for your time. do you have a last comment or statement you would like posted J. Living in the paranormal world as a lot of us do, is an exciting place to be. Just remember it's really nothing like what is seen on TV. Be careful out there, stay safe and above all else have fun looking for the answers.
