THE POPOBAWA The popobawa, pemba in tanzania is a shape-shifting cryptid that is often human bat in form that is cycloptic in nature that goes house to house at night attacking every member of the house man,woman or child. These attacks are always sexual in nature just as in the tales of the incubus and succubus and even in human form it smells of sulphur. The attack it is said the creature will sit on the victims chest until the person is close to death before anally raping them, even the women. The creature it is said is able to talk in the accent and dialoge of the area it is attacking and unlike most cryptids hiding in the shadow the POPOBAWA orders the victims to tell of the attack they just suffered and if the victim refuses it gloats and repeats the attack The belief in the POPOBAWA and the recorded attacks began back in the 1960s and by the 1990s the fear was so prevelent people began to sleep in groups of 10 or more at times outside around camp fires. Panic was so bad at one point in 1995 there was over 70 reports in one month and a homeless man was beaten to death when people took the smell of his unkempt body as the smell of the creature, the man was 21 years old.
