Bathory

Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed a Hungarian noblewoman and serial killer from the Báthory family of Hungary. Bathory is actually in the Guinness World Records as the most prolific female murderer, though the precise number of her victims is debated. Báthory and four collaborators were accused of torturing and killing hundreds of young women between 1585 and 1609. Some tales say 100 victims others say as high as 600 victims. Are these tales true? Despite the evidence against Elizabeth, her family's influence kept her from facing trial. She was imprisoned in December 1609 within Csetje Castle, in Upper Hungary in a windowless bricked up room until she died around five years later. It is a known fact a prominant member of society heard rumours about the female dracula and a group went to search Csetje and it is said three female bodies was found but what is the reality. The hand servants that helped her commit the crimes all spoke out against the countess when they was offered their lives for admitting the crime and implicating Bathory, they all agreed instantly and confessed the crimes and said tales how there mistress instigated it all and how she would drink the blood of her victims and even bathe in it. After their confessions it believe most if not all the conspirators even though promised their freedom was still executed, bitter irony really. Now you need to remember in those times life was harsh and full of in clan fueding, fighting and opposing. Land was often fought over be it on the battlefield or behind closed doors with secret meetings, so i ask myself are the talers of Bathorys blood lust true or a ploy to over take the Bathory estate? From evidence researched the likely answer to this is, Both. Records show that elizabeth bathory was a real person there is infact in storage paintings of her that look no different to other nobility paintings of the era and records show she was infact walled up and died when legend states and reports of the bodies of three dead girls when the posse went for her. The reported 100 to 650 victims alleged to be killed is still debatable. Yes, it appears bathory was a killer or at least of the knowledge there was killings happening within the walls of her home. Did Bathory do the killings herself? i personally doubt it,(although i may be wrong) i personally feel it was a power play to steal the Bathory wealth and land, propoganda like used with Vlad Tepes , be the tales real or false Bathory will stand remembered in history for all time as the BLOOD COUNTESS. The reality also is over the centuries her name has been bastardized to fit with the times, many know her as elizabeth bathory when the truth is her name was Elzabet i guess elizabeth is a close translation but the name Bathory is so often mispronounced as "Bath" "or" "e" when it is closer pronounciation is closer to battery.(just a pet peeve of mine) ..
