Rendlesham UFO walk
Rendlesham U.F.O walk/incident
In late December 1980, there were a series of reported sightings of unexplained lights near Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk, England, which have become linked with claims of UFO landings. The events occurred just outside RAF Woodbridge, which was used at the time by the U.S. Air Force. USAF personnel, including deputy base commander Lieutenant Colonel Charles I. Halt, claimed to see things they described as a UFO sighting.
The occurrence is the most famous of claimed UFO events to have happened in the United Kingdom,[1] ranking among the best-known reported UFO events worldwide. It has been compared to the Roswell UFO incident in the United States and is sometimes referred to as "Britain's Roswell".[2] The Ministry of Defence (MoD) stated the event posed no threat to national security, and it therefore never was investigated as a security matter. The sightings have been explained as a misinterpretation of a series of nocturnal lights – a fireball, the Orford Ness lighthouse and bright stars.[3]
A comprehensive 2009 evaluation by scientific sceptic author Brian Dunning concluded there was nothing unusual about the incident.[4] (high lights from wokipedia)
I must say i have ALWAYS doubted the stories of this incident, things just don't add up. A incident such as this would take multipule witnessess and on two have ever really spoken about then few nights. So being a serious investigator/researcher i bit the bullet and went on the Rendlesham UFO walk. As you enter the area all around is day trippers and sadly this article will seem in writing somewhat like a travel info article more than a ufo incident write up. The car park area is full of day trippers cooking BBQ food fastfood stand a info desk and a py and display machine. The area is beautiful although does appear to be somewhat man made with the trees all lined up like row apon row of wooden soldiers. From the info desk you pick up a free fold away map of the ufo trail witha curtiousy pencil with Rendlesham ufo trail emblazed on the side, and not to mention the childrens cryptogram a sheet of paper that you decode "alien" symbols to work out a secret message. After we got through the "welcome earthlings tahnk you..." the novelty soon wore off. The path of the walk is graded as easy and in fairness the layer of sand throughtout most of the almost 7 mile round trip is nice to walk on although myself and wife did find the going hard with baby buggies and anyone with a wheelchair or walking difficulties may find it hard if not impossible going due to the sand drifts from the movement of the many feet and years of wind. After a long walk through a forest that appears to the observer to be man made although scenic and beautiful you approach the alleged alien landing site but by this time the excitment and antisipation of seeing the landing site had long worn off and to be frank the site is extremely dissapointing. The forest commisionary have cleared a lot of the area and a metal sculpture in the shape of the alleged craft has been placed there. The walk all round is close to 7 miles in a curcuit and the return journey would of probably been faster to travel to a distant planet. The Rendlesham case is known as the British Rosewell and for those into the unexplained and the paranormal the case is probably a huge step into the field although the incident to myself does not ring true as new aspects appear to be added with every retelling and the size of the sculpture said to be a exact size model of the real craft logic says in no way would it possibly been able to be interstellar unless a larger "mothership" was in earths orbit and it was simply a landing craft. What at one time was a great mystery and a good aspect and point of topic in a lot of paranormal ufo groups has in my opinion become a mockery and a commercial gimmick to get people health and on long monotonous walks. The day in whole was nice though at times some what over cast and breezy, but as a whole it truly, due to the commercial aspect of BBQ area, coffee/food stand, sign posts with "alien" writings saying welcome earthlings really lessens the importance of what if true was a important incident in the realms of the paranormal and i personally feel that if you are a serious UFO enthusiast or paranormal buff/researcher like myself the Rendlesham ufo walk is not for you but if you are just after shits and giggles or want to scratch off a item on your bucket list or have a great day out with friends and family for a BBQ then do go. All in the day was great a item scratched from my bucket list but the scientific/pararesearcher side of myself i was some what disappointing even the area of the said landing i was expecting to have a high EMF and to be able to get a "vibe" of the reality of the incident but to sit in contemplation is somewhat difficult due to the constant influx of visitors and the sounds of what appears to be the base being pulled down with the creepy grinding sounds of the structures and the continuos thumping of machines lessened the experience for me personally.
